THOMASVILLE — During its November board meeting, the Thomasville City Schools Board of Education recognized outstanding community members during its meeting on Tuesday night.  Each month, one school from the district recognizes a non-classified staff member and a business the school partners with for the Tireless Award and Bulldog Business Partner of the Month.

Scott Elementary School Principal Carie Young recognized the Thomas University Softball team as the Bulldog Business Partner of the Month. "This partnership is so much more than a name, a visit, or a simple community connection, Young said. "It's a relationship built on presence, purpose, and genuine care. Through the TU Big Sister/Little Sister Program,  our students have gained role models, encouragers, and positive influences who are ready to connect, uplift, and inspire our young students."  Young went on to say that when the softball players arrive on campus, the students light up with excitement time after time.

"They feel seen. They feel valued. They feel important," she said. "That's because each big sister shows up with intention, ready to engage in reading with our students, listening to them, mentoring them, and investing time in them that leaves a lasting impression on our students." Young told the players in attendance that their interactions showed the students they matter, are capable, and that there is someone on their side, cheering them on.  "That kind of impact cannot be measured on a scoreboard," Young said. "It's measured in confidence and positive relationships that help shape who our students become."  Young thanked the team, saying they embodied true servant leadership, while uplifting the next generation.  "Thank you for being champions for our students in every sense of the word," she said before congratulating the team. She then presented them with a plaque.
