MONTGOMERY, Ala. – William Carey edged out Mobile for the No. 1 spot in the 2026 SSAC Softball Coaches' Preseason Poll. 
 
The 2026 SSAC Softball Championship is set for April 30 – May 2 in Decatur, Ala., at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex.
 
Wendy Hogue, Head Coach: "It's an honor to be chosen as the preseason #1 in any conference, but especially one as strong as the SSAC. We're grateful for the respect our program has earned and appreciative of the recognition. That said, we all know preseason polls don't decide anything. Our focus is on being all in — every day — and trusting that if we do that, we'll put ourselves in the position we want to be in when that final poll is released."
 
Thomas Sofball finished runner up in last year's conference standings with an 18-8 record in conference and a 30-22 overall record.The Night Hawks earned an at large bid to the NAIA National tournament for the first time since 2018.
