BRUNSWICK, Ga. - In the first game of 2025, the Night Hawks welcomed the new year with a victory over the Mariners of Coastal Georgia.
Thomas began play by showcasing stellar shooting from beyond the arc. In four consecutive possessions, Andre Lightbourne, Armani Thomas, Ja'Vian Baker and Joshua Robertson each capitalized on a three to give the Night Hawks a six point lead over the Mariners. However, the Mariners responded to the challenge by capitalizing on several possessions of their own to briefly gain control of the contest. In response, Jailin Lee sank a three to send the Night Hawks into the break holding a 39-38 advantage.Â
The combined efforts of Christian Nurse and Lee quickly gained momentum to open the second half of play. The Night Hawks continued to showcase accuracy from beyond the arc. A pair of good three pointers from Robertson and Baker paired with a Devin Baney layup allowed the Night Hawks to take a 14 point advantage with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. However, an 11-2 Coastal run decreased this advantage to just one point with two minutes remaining in regulation. Thomas provided the answer with a three that then allowed Robertson to seal the contest from the charity stripe.Â
Lee led all Night Hawks with 15 points, four assists, and three blocks. Thomas supplied 13 points and three assists, while Robertson added 11 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
The Night Hawks (7-7, 1-4 SSAC) return to action with SSAC play in a matchup against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (5-6, 1-2 SSAC) on Saturday, January 4th at 2:00PM.
