THOMASAVILLE, Ga- Thomas notched another win against former conference foe Ave Maria Gyrenes on Friday afternoon at the TU Soccer Complex. The game was a messy one as a downpour of rain made things slick for both teams, but had little affect on the shots as the Gyrenes were firing on all cylinders to begin the game, However the Night Hawk defense, led by goalkeeper
Emily Lamoreaux held strong as both teams failed to score in the first half.
The second half featured more of the same tough defense but the Thomas attack finally broke through as
Madelyn Musgrove found the back of the net with help from
Ali Baca and
Jule Rohleder. The Night Hawks found another opening and
Hannah Henriksen hit a strike from
Kaitlyn Herb to go up 2-0 in the 74th minute. Ave Maria responded back four minutes later with a goal to bring them back within one, but the Thomas wall stood firm to close out the contest.Â
Lamoreaux finished with a career-high 16 saves in the win and Hendriksen hit her second game-winner in the past two contests. The Night Hawks will take an eight day break before going on the road against no.16 SCAD-Savannah on Saturday, September 14th.Â
