THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Thomas opened the season at home against first time opponent Bluefield Rams Friday evening and fell 35-17.
The Rams opened the game with an 88 yard kick off returned for a touchdown by Nehemiah Carter and a successful PAT attempt from Riley Stubbs.
Braxton Crawford put the Night Hawks on the scoreboard for the first time this season with a 25-yard field goal with 30 seconds remaining in the first quarter to bring the score to 7-3.
Charles Britt put the Night Hawks ahead 10-7 with a one-yard keeper and goo PAT attempt on a seven play 65-yard drive with 9:16 to go in the first half. Bluefield answered back with a Nathan Herstitch pass to Marcus Bromley to give the Rams the advantage 14-10. The Rams took control of the game with three consecutive scores to bring it to 35-10.
Cam Sanders cut the deficit with a three-yard rushing touchdown to bring the final score to 35-17.
Braxton Crawford went 2-2 on PAT attempts and made his only field goal attempt.
Elijah Alston led the backfield with 72 yards on 10 rushing attempts.
Charles Britt led the passing game and went 13-22 with 170 yards. He also added a rushing touchdown.
Cam Sanders also added to the offensive effort with a rushing touchdown.
Demari Foster led the receiving effort with 4 receptions for 90 yards and 61 long.
Anthony Chatmon led the defense with six tackles and two of those being tackles for loss.
Wyatt Waddell kicked off four times for a total of 203 yards and averaged 50.3 yards a kickoff.
Thomas returns to action on September 14
th in Columbus, Ga. Â for a neutral site match up against last years quarter finalist and No.8 ranked Bethel University. Kick off is scheduled for 12 p.m.
