Night Hawks Shine During Indoor Conference Meet

GAINESVILLE, GA | The Night Hawks traveled to Gainesville on Friday and Saturday to compete in the SSAC Indoor Track Meet.  Multiple Night Hawks came home with individual accolades during the two-day event.

DAY 2, FRIDAY

In the pit, Ethan Fralish competed in Long Jump getting a place of 7th overall and a mark of 6.36. Tyrese Henderson got a mark of 5.77 placing him 11th overall.  Two school records were broken in the same event on day one and that was in the 400M. For the women, Sophia Alexander ran a time of 1:05.17 which is the new school record. And for the men JT Thompson ran a time of 49.06, which is also now the school record.
 
In the 1000M, Emmanuel Tovar-Negrete had a personal best for the season with a time of 2:45.21.  In the 60M prelims, Thomas had two sprinters qualify for the finals, Michael Eady with a time of 6.88 and Kyron Belton with a time of 6.91.  In the 60M finals Kyron Belton got a time of 6.88, which is a personal best and placed 4th. Michael Eady, with a finals time of 6.91, finished in 5th place.
 
Once again, two more school records were broken in the same event by the men and women. Cassandra Richards placed 2nd overall in the 5000M with a time of 19:48.89, which is now the new school record for the women.  Justin Tomison also ran the 5000M and got a 1st place finish, with a time of 15:29.59, which is now also the school record for the men.

DAY 2, SATURDAY

In the pit, Tyrese Henderson competed in the triple jump and got a final mark of 13.72, finishing 3rd in the finals. Ethan Fralish also competed and got a final mark of 13.12. Fralish is now second-team all conference.  The 4x800 team is 2nd team all conference after their performance on Saturday with a time of 9:05.21.

In the 3000M, Cassandra Richards had placed again with a time of 11:30.48.  For the men, Justin Tomison ran a time of 9:01.36 in the 3000 and placed 6th overall, qualifying for the second team all-conference.  Sophia Alexander broke another school record, this time in the 600M with a time of 1:45.81. She placed 3rd overall.
 
For the men, Justin Tomison also ran the 600M with a time of 1:24.37.  Kyron Belton and Michael Eady had been the top sprinters of the weekend. In the 200M, Michael Eady recorded a time of 22.06 with a 5th place finish, along with Kyron Belton's 6th place finish with a time of 22.23. Both of these sprinters qualified for the second team all-conference.
 
The men's 4x4 team finished with a time of 3:23.91, which qualified them for the second team all-conference.
 
Some key highlights of this meet were:
 
ACADEMIC AWARD WINNERS: Emmanuel Tovar-Negrete (Jr), Victoria Richards (Jr), Sophia Alexander (Jr), and TJ Tulloch (Sr).
 
CONFERENCE CHAMPION: Justin Tomison in the 5000M (15:29.59)
