MOBILE, Ala.- Thomas brought the fight, but could not overcome a second half goal vs. University of Mobile Rams on Saturday afternoon.
The SSAC Game of the Week lived up to its billing as both teams were evenly matched through out the game. The Night Hawks found chances early on with
Pearl Mortimer taking a shot going just wide of the goal in the 2nd minute.
Sasha Manders took a corner kick opportunity in the ninth minute but they could not capitalize on it. The Rams soon went on the attack with two shots on goal in the 12th minute, but both were saved by
Emily Lamoreaux. However, in the 15th minute, Mobile snuck one by the goalkeeper to take a 1-0 lead. That would be the last time they had a shot on goal for the half as Thomas kept the deficit at one going into the half.
In the second, it only took a minute for the Night Hawks to strike back as
Pearl Mortimer set up
Sasha Manders for an equalizer in the 46th minute. The Rams went on the attack again and after a couple of attempts were halted by the Thomas defense, but a cross to get by the goalkeeper gave the opportunity for a Moblie goal to break the tie in the 66th minute. The Night Hawks tried to equalize again but could not break through to end the game.
Thomas will be on the road again, traveling up to West Point, Ga for a conference match up against Point University on Wednesday, October 9th at 3:30 PM.
