Box Score 2 TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Thomas University baseball team lost a pair of games, 8-2 and 7-6, in a double header with Talladega College on Saturday afternoon.

The Night Hawks next travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for a midweek double header with Trinity Baptist College on Feb. 7, then host the 2023 home opener Feb. 10 & 11 against Middle Georgia State University.

Game One
Jose Class, Jr., put Thomas on the board first with a solo home run in the second inning. Talladega answered with three runs in the bottom of the third, then five more in the fifth. TU plated a final run in the top of the seventh when
Jean Pool Checo hit a double, driving in
Cam Williams.
Â
Matthew Delay, Jr., went 2-for-2 and was walked once for the Night Hawks.
Â
Riley Fisher took the loss on the mound for TU, striking out four, but allowing six runs from four hits and walking four in 4.0 innings.

Game Two
Talladega scored one run in the bottom of the first, but Thomas knotted the score in the next frame as
Bradley Fleenor doubled to left center, driving in
Bryce Bitting.

The Tornadoes plated five runs over the next two innings, to take a 6-1 lead.
Â
The Night Hawks battled back with four runs in the top of the fifth. Leadoff
Michael Sowers drew a walk, then
Josh Johnson was hit by a pitch.
Brooks Rikeman hit an RBI double to score Sowers. Delay, Jr., reached first then advanced on to second on a throwing error, a play in which Johnson scored. After a pitching change, Delay advanced to third on a ground out, then scored on a ground out from
Luis Rodriguez-Gallo.

In the sixth, Thomas plated one more run, and Talladega added a final run, to take the victory, 7-6, in seven innings.

Eduardo Adrian got the start for Thomas, but was relieved after two-thirds of an inning.
AJ Wydra pitched 3.1 innings, allowing five runs, four earned, from six hits.
Zachary Buelk struck out two in his inning of relief, and
Jacob Pino was tagged with the loss after allowing one run from two hits in 1.0 inning of work.
