Thomasville, GA | Championship soccer Continues for the Night Hawks in the Southern States Athletic Conference Montgomery, AL on Wednesday as the Thomas Night faces Mobile at the
Emory Folmar YMCA. #4 Thomas (10-3-4, 6-2-2 SSAC) comes into this match as an underdog against #1 Mobile (12-2-2, 9-0-1 SSAC). The Rams are ranked #7 in NAIA, while the Night Hawks are receiving votes in the NAIA polls.
Under interim head coach Billy Jeffery, the Night Hawks are still unbeaten, having advanced in the SSAC tournament, by way of a shootout over Faulkner, at home, on this past Friday. After playing to a 2-2 draw through regulation, and neither team able to muster a goal during the two extra periods, the Night Hawks scored four goals, compared to three, to claim the right to advance.
Friday's draw raised the unbeaten streak to nine, with Thomas going 7-0-2. Two Thomas trends ended in the opening round match against Faulkner. Thomas gave up a goal during the first half of a match for the first time since September. Also, Thomas allowed more than one goal in a match for the first time since September. During their streak, Thomas shut out five of their opponents and did not give up more than one goal in any match. During the unbeaten streak, Thomas only allowed 0.375 goals per match, while scoring 2.25 goals while per match. The run for Thomas consumed the entire month of October.
The Night Hawks have a total of four ties on the season. The first tie of the season occurred against Mobile, at nil-nil on September 16 at the TU Soccer complex.
