Justin Tominson and Emily Lamoreaux Chosen as Bill Raney Athletes of the Year

Thomasville, GA | Earlier this month, Justin Tomison (Buxton, ME, Bonny Eagle HS) and Emily Lamoreaux (Lake City, Fla., Columbia HS) were chosen as the Bill Raney Athlete of the Year for Thomas University.  

Candidates for the Athletes of the Year award are recognized as student-athletes who have made outstanding contributions to his or her team, while displaying strong character, leadership, and community involvement.  The award is given out annually by the Thomasville-Thomas County Sports Hall of Fame selection committee.  Nominees are selected based upon achievement in their college career.  Outstanding contributions to his/her team(s), while displaying strong character, leadership, and community involvement are some of the criteria considered.

Tomison has lettered in cross-country for four seasons at Thomas.  As a freshman, he was selected as 2nd team all-conference for The Sun Conference and last season, as a junior, Tomison received 1st team honors from The Sun Conference and was a NAIA National Individual Qualifier.  When competing in indoor track, Tomison has earned 1st team all-conference in the 5000 meter run each season, and was 1st team all-conference in the distance medley relay as a freshman and sophomore.  As a junior, he added 1st team honors in the 3000 meter run.  Tomison is the indoor school record holder in the 3000 meter and 5000 meter run.  In outdoor track, Tomison has made The Sun Conference 1st team in the 10,000 meter run.  As a sophomore, Tominson was 1st team all-conference in the 5000 meter run. Tominson is a member of Goalline Ministries leadership team and has volunteered for the Thomas County Special Olympics.

EMILY LAMOREAUX

Lamoreaux has been a four year starter at Thomas.  She has been a Sun Conference and NAIA Academic All-American every season since 2021.  Lamoreaux is on pace to graduate with a perfect 4.0 gpa and has earned a position on the President's List for academics.  On the pitch, she has earned player-of-the-week honors in both The Sun Conference (2022) and the Southern States Athletic Conference (2023).  Lamoreaux earned a NAIA National Player of the Week honor in 2022.  In 2022, Lamoreaux earned 2nd team conference honors from The Sun Conference and 2nd team NAIA All-American honors.  Lamoreaux is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Education, after receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2023.  In the community, she as volunteered at Scott Elementary School, Girls on the Run of Thomas County Middle School, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Hands on Thomas County.  Lamoreaux is a member of the leadership committee for Goalline Ministries.
