MIAMI, Fla. - The SUN Conference released its weekly awards on Monday afternoon announcing Thomas University's Alex Ruane as last week's Defensive Player of the Week.

In Thomas' 2-0 win over Faulkner University, Ruane scored Thomas' game-winning goal in the 68th minute. Additionally, the Dublin, Ireland native played a vital role in the Night Hawk back line, limiting the Eagles to just two shots on goal in the 2-0 win. Ruane's goal was the first of his career and season, as the sophomore played all 90' in the 2-0 shutout.

Ruane joins a long list of SUN Conference Defensive Player of the Weeks, joining coaches Joe McDowell (2013) and Billy Jeffery (2016) as Night Hawks to garner such honors.

The Green & White are back at the the TU Soccer Complex this Friday as Thomas hosts the University of Mobile at 4 PM.
