TU Looks to Build off Momentum in Tuesday TBC Twin Bill

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team is set to take on another set of Eagles, this time in Jacksonville, Fla., as TU will compete against Trinity Baptist College in a non-conference doubleheader.

The Night Hawks (5-2) are fresh off a series win over Asbury (Ky.), most recently coming back from a 5-0 deficit to overcome the Eagles 11-7 in nine innings.  Thomas is currently off to its best start since 2015, thanks to in part TU's play at the plate.  The Green & White boast the 18th-best team batting average in the nation (.339), highlighted by 57 RBIs and 19 doubles on the season, both of which are in the Top 35 in NAIA.  The Baby Hawks continue to make significant impacts, as Freshmen Matthew Delay Jr. (.393) and Michael Sowers (.478) both lead Thomas in Hits (11).

On the mound, one Baby Hawk is as equally impressive as Sowers and Delay.  Left-Hander Riley Fisher (2-0) enters Jacksonville, Fla. with a 0.84 ERA, allowing one earned run, 12 total hits, and three walks with 12 strikeouts, all in 10.2 innings pitched.

Trinity Baptist (4-5) comes off a four-game series with Southeastern Baptist College, splitting with the Chargers.  The Eagles come into the doubleheader averaging .262 at the batter's box overall, with Will VanSickle (.481) leading the team.  The utility Junior (1-0) was most notable for his pitching performance against the Night Hawks last season, allowing just two earned runs in five hits and seven strikeouts in five and one-third innings that lead to a 7-4 upset win over the Green & White in last year's Game One of the doubleheader in Northeast Florida.  This season, VanSickle holds a 10.50 ERA on the mound, while posting eight runs scored, eight RBIs, and a .519 slugging percentage at the plate.

TU holds a commanding 18-4 series lead over TBC, recently winning 14 of the last 15 meetings.

First pitch at Trinity Baseball Field is set for 3 p.m.  Raymond Bureau will have the call for both contests.  Fans unable to make the trip can watch the live action by accessing the link below:
