Battle of the ‘Hawks II: Conference Implications on the Line

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Men's basketball team has not forgotten that one, cruel technical foul call by an official that stole a would-be win from the team.  Now, the Night Hawks travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. Thursday night for a chance to settle the score with Keiser in a The Sun Conference showdown that could play a vital role in the standings.

The Hunter Green & White (6-11, 6-5 TSC) have now reeled off three, straight wins and are poised to continue its red-hot run.  Last week, the Night Hawks averaged 44.4% from the field, and held the conference's best free-throw percentage average (86.1%).  Defensively, TU gave up 32.8% of shots outside the arc and forced 20+ turnovers in two its three contests.

Junior Guard Jordan Booker notched 19 points in two of the last three contests and shot a best 75% from the field as a Night Hawk in the team's 70-68 nail-biting win over Webber International.  Senior Forward Desean Enzor comes off back-to-back double-digit scoring performances.

Keiser (12-7, 8-5 TSC) has also been red-hot as of late, winning four of its last five contests.  The Seahawks finished last week averaging 84 points a game.

Keiser will no doubt look to their top scorer in CoreVon Lott (18.9 points/game) to carry the offensive load.  Lott comes off a week in which the TSC scoring leader averaged 20.3 points a game.

In the team's previous meeting, TU made sure Lott was a non-factor for the Seahawks, limiting the Junior to ten points.  The Night Hawks' offense was flying, shooting 50.9% from the field and 53.8% from long range, but a disastrous 5-for-13 performance from the line came back to haunt the Hunter Green & White.  Since that contest, Thomas has ensured free throws would not be the team's downfall, shooting 70% or better in four of its last six games.

Thursday night's game will be big, as a win for the Night Hawks would set up a potential battle-for-second place scenario against Ave Maria Saturday.

Tipoff at the de Hoernle Student is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.  Since tickets have been sold out to the general public, fans can follow all the live action by accessing the links below:
