Raines Plant connected on a solo home run in the Night Hawks' 13-3 loss to Middle Georgia State University Tuesday.
Plant sent his shot over the right field fence on a 3-2 count in the seventh inning. Overall, he was 2-for-2 with his solo home run and a walk.
MGA went ahead 4-0 after three innings, then Thomas tied the game in the top of the seventh. But MGA plated eight in the seventh and one in the eighth to take the 13-3 victory.
Starter
Ryan Pierce struck out one and allowed just one earned run from eight hits and a walk in 0.2 innings.
Keyton Smith came in for 3.2 innings of relief, allowing three earned runs from four hits, then
Clayton Faircloth closed the final three frames, giving up four earned runs from four hits and a trio of walks.
Leftfielder Maury Gonzalez also tagged a pair of hits and centerfielder
Keefer Beaty connected on an RBI double and scored a run.
Thomas next faces No. 19 Warner University in Sun Conference action at 6:30 p.m. Friday and a doubleheader Saturday starting at 12 p.m. in Lake Wales, Fla.
