CARROLLTON, Ga. – Thomas University's
Genevieve Courtney placed 12th in the UWG Invitational held at the Sunset Hills Country Club March 26-27.
Courtney fired a 6-over 78 in the first round, and followed it with a second round 79. On Tuesday, she carded an 83 for a three-round total 240 to earn Thomas' best finish at the event.
As a team, TU finished seventh, combining to shoot a 367-333-352- 1052. The University of West Georgia won the tournament, carding a 314-309-303-926.
Each of the other four Night Hawks shot their best score in the second round.
Angela Rivera tied for 30th after starting the tournament with a 92, then shooting an 8-over 80, followed by a final round 85.
Laura Alexander shot a 96, then improved by 10 strokes in the second round (86), and finished with a 90 to place 35th.
Dylaney Day also cut down her strokes on round two, shooting a 111-88-94 to place 36th, and
Laura Mican finished 37th with a 101-93-105.
The golf team is away from competition for a month, then travel to Pooler, Ga., for the Sun Conference Championship held at the Savannah Quarters Country Club April 29, 30 and May 1.
