SELMA, Ala. - Thomas defeated USCAA Division I member Selma (Ala.), 71-58, on Tuesday evening, ending a four-game losing streak. The Night Hawks defeated the Bulldogs for the second time this season.

Kriza Allen and
Samantha Gilbert each tallied 14 points for Thomas (6-8).
Jewel Montisano came up with 10 points. Allen and Montisano were each 4-of-6 from the floor. Allen was 6-of-9 from the free throw line, while Montisano was 2-of-4 from deep. Gilbert was 5-of-8 shooting off the bench, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range.
Arianna Anderson provided nine points and seven boards in the triumph.
Dymon Brown chipped in eight points.
Alexandria Guice scored 19 points and six rebounds off the bench for Selma, playing its second exhibition against the Green and White. Rebecca Payne recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Payne was 5-of-10 from the field. Eeshunda Morgan had 10 points.Â
Thomas was 43.3 percent (26-of-60) from the field, made seven treys and hit 10-of-16 from the stripe. The Night Hawks held an edge on the glass, 42-33.
Selma shot 39.6 percent (19-of-48) overall and just 1-of-4 from downtown while missing 17 free throws (19-of-36).
The Night Hawks scored the first seven points as part of a 12-2 run to open the game following a steal by Anderson and layup by Allen. Guice scored five of her team's last six points in the frame, but Thomas led 18-14 at the end of the first quarter.
Back-to-back jumpers by Morgan gave her squad its first advantage of the contest, 21-18, at the 7:57 mark of the second stanza, but the Green and White took a 31-26 upper hand into intermission courtesy of a Montisano steal and layup right before the half.
Montisano canned a 3 to open the third quarter and increase her team's lead to eight. The third quarter advantage swelled to as many as 11 after an
Alisha Clayton steal and layup with 40 seconds on the clock. Thomas led 49-41 at the end of the period.
A D. Brown trey with 7:51 left increased Thomas' advantage to 14 points, 57-43, and the Bulldogs would get no closer than nine the rest of the way.
The Night Hawks resume Sun Conference play Saturday at Coastal Georgia at 2 p.m. ET.
