MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Thomas University women's basketball secured several major postseason honors as the Southern States Athletic Conference announced its 2026 award recipients, highlighted by senior center LaTarius Montgomery's selection to the SSAC First‑Team All‑Conference.
Montgomery delivered one of the most decorated individual seasons in program history. She finished the regular season tied for 7th in the NAIA in rebounds per game and ranked 3rd nationally in total rebounds and 4th in defensive rebounds. In SSAC play, she led the conference with 333 total rebounds and 252 defensive rebounds, ranked first in blocks with 38, and averaged a double‑double for the season. She recorded 15 double‑doubles this year—the most in a single season in program history—and increased her career total to 23, also a school record. Montgomery earned three SSAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, the most in a season in program history and tied for the most in a career. She also holds the Thomas record for most rebounds in a game with 26.
Freshman guard Zyi'Kiera King was named to the SSAC All‑Freshman Team, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honor. King started more games than any freshman in the conference and averaged 7.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while adding 18 steals and 26 assists.
The selections of King and Montgomery mark Thomas University's first All‑Conference honors since joining the SSAC in the 2023–2024 season.
Graduate guard Destiny Hill was selected to the Athletic Solutions All‑Academic Team. Senior guard Aaliyah Ringold represented Thomas University on the SSAC Champions of Character Team.
