Arianna Anderson led Thomas in points (18), rebounds (7) and steals (4).

Thomas built an early 6-2 lead after a layup by Daycia Bandy and consecutive buckets from Anderson, but Ave Maria responded with a 24-3 run spanning just over 10 minutes to take control. The Night Hawks failed to register a field goal for more than six minutes, as the Gyrenes grabbed a 28-11 lead.

Ave Maria led 39-17 at the half and 57-35 at the end of three quarters.

Thomas finished 11-of-16 from the free throw line, with Anderson going 4-of-4. The Night Hawks were 8-of-10 from the stripe after halftime.

Alisha Clayton and Kriza Allen each provided eight points off the bench for Thomas. Allen and Jewel Montisano grabbed five rebounds apiece.

ABOUT SELMA

The Bulldogs, who enter Tuesday 2-7 overall but are counting the contest as an exhibition, are coming off an 87-48 loss at home to Faulkner (Ala.), a NAIA Division I member, on Dec. 11.

Selma trailed 26-10 at the end of the first quarter, 35-22 at halftime and 67-36 at the end of three quarters.

Alondra Gray and Alexandria Guice each had 12 points off the bench in defeat. Guice was 6-of-11 from the floor. Rebecca Payne tallied a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The Bulldogs shot 35.3 percent (18-of-51) from the field, 3-of-17 from 3 and 8-of-21 from the line.

Selma has averaged just 51.7 points in three-straight losses and is 0-7 when scoring 58 points or fewer. The Bulldogs have failed to score more than 50 points in five of their nine contests.

Payne leads the team in scoring (16.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.3 rpg), while Gray is second in scoring (13.3 ppg).

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE BULLDOGS

Thomas defeated Selma, 65-61, on Oct. 30, 2017.

De'Audra Copeland led four Thomas players in double-figures with 17 points on a 7-of-12 clip from the field. Bandy added 13 points, while Allen and Montisano had 12 apiece.

Copeland and Allen each had eight rebounds, including seven for Copeland on the offensive glass. Anderson added seven rebounds in the victory. Bandy had four of the team's 16 steals.

Payne and Tatyanna Griffin each had a double-double. Griffin recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Payne poured in 20 points and 18 boards.

Down 51-41 with 7:57 to play, an Anderson layup triggered a 14-3 Green and White spurt in a span of 3:59, as an Allen fastbreak layup gave her team a 55-54 edge. The Bulldogs responded with five-straight points, but two Bandy free throws at the 2:05 mark gave Brown's team the upper hand for good.

The Night Hawks forced 30 turnovers and turned them into 22 points.
