ABOUT THOMAS
The Night Hawks are coming off a 62-38 loss at No. 3 Southeastern (Fla.) on Thursday in conference play.Â
Arianna Anderson ended with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting for Thomas, playing its third-straight ranked team.Â
Dymon Brown added 12 points, including three made 3s.Â
De'Audra Copeland had six points and eight rebounds.Â
Kriza Allen grabbed six boards.Â
The Night Hawks outrebounded Southeastern, 43-34.
Thomas jumped out to a five-point lead less than three minutes into the game after a D. Brown trey and Anderson bucket in the paint, but the Fire scored the final 14 points and led by nine at the end of the first quarter.
At the 6:12 mark of the second period, the Fire took its first double-digit advantage and led 31-12 at halftime.
Thomas outscored the home team 13-8 in the third quarter, with the final four Night Hawk points coming from Copeland, to trim the deficit to 39-25, but the Green and White would get no closer.
ABOUT AVE MARIA
The Gyrenes are coming off a 94-54 loss at home to Coastal Georgia on Thursday in conference play.Â
Coastal Georgia took control of the game from the opening whistle, trailing for just 17 seconds when Ave Maria held a 3-2 lead. The Mariners jumped out to a 20-6 lead less than seven minutes into the game. Ave Maria was able to close the deficit to eight points, 24-16, at the end of the quarter after four free throws and a Mallory Burton jumper.
The 3-point shooting of the Mariners came to the forefront in the second quarter. Coastal Georgia knocked down five 3s in 10 attempts in the second frame, stretching its lead to 17 points at halftime. The 17-point lead was powered by a 13-4 run to begin the quarter as well as a 9-2 run that ended it.
Ave Maria managed just 21 points in the second half, as the Coastal Georgia defense forced 23 turnovers that turned into 34 points.Â
Sarah Miller was Ave Maria's leading scorer and leading rebounder with 10 points and seven rebounds. Four other Gyrenes added six points each - Jasmine Bateman, Lauren Gillingham, Danielle Weinmann, and Amanda Kasprzak.
Ave Maria ranks 19th in NAIA Division II in rebound margin (6.2), 21st in assist/turnover ratio (1.0) and 23rd in field goal percentage defense (0.367) and assists per game (15.8).
Miller is sixth nationally in field goal percentage (0.602), 12th in offensive rebounds per game (3.9) and 13th in rebounds per game (9.6).

Thomas lost at Ave Maria, 65-60, on Jan. 21, 2017.
J'Nyiah Daniels led the Night Hawks with 16 points and five assists, while Anderson provided a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Allen added eight points and as many rebounds.
The Night Hawks started the game on a 6-0 run before the Gyrenes responded and tied the game at 6-6. Thomas went on a 7-2 run and took a 13-8 lead. The Night Hawks led 19-16 at the end of the first period.
Ave Maria started the second quarter with three straight 3-pointers and held a 25-21 lead. Daniels sank a trey that gave her team a 30-29 lead with two minutes to play before halftime, at which Thomas led 32-31.
Mallory Burton converted a 3 and tied the game at 36 early in the third quarter. The Night Hawks ended the period on a 5-2 run and led 50-46 heading into the final quarter.
Miller made a free throw that tied the game at 54 with six minutes to play. Daniels made one of two free throws and gave Thomas a 57-56 lead, it's last of the game. Ave Maria responded with a 5-1 run and took a 62-58 lead. The Gyrenes ended the game with three-straight free throws.
