THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Thomas resumes Sun Conference (TSC) play Saturday at Coastal Georgia, which is receiving votes in the latest Top 25 poll, at 4 p.m. ET.

ABOUT THOMAS

The Night Hawks are coming off a 99-86 win over Reinhardt (Ga.) on Tuesday inside TU Gymnasium in non-conference play, their first home game in 31 days. The Night Hawks improved to 5-1 at home this season, including 4-0 in non-conference action. The 99 points were the most in a game this season and most since a 105-82 win at home over Webber International (Fla.) on Jan. 12, 2017. 

Johnnel Ginnie, JaVoris Cooks, D.J. Roulhac and Demetrius Rivers finished with 13 points apiece for Thomas, as all 12 players who saw action entered the scoring column for a squad playing its first home game in 31 days. Jakari Bush added 10 points. 

Ginnie finished 6-of-10 shooting. Cooks was 5-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-6 from deep. Roulhac shot 5-of-6 from the floor, including 3-of-4 on triples. Rivers was 6-of-11 shooting.

Cooks dished out a career-high eight assists, as the team totaled a season-high 28 on 42 made baskets. Bush had five assists, while Myers registered four. Ginnie came up with seven rebounds, as his team won the battle of the boards 43-34.

The Night Hawks, who led from start to finish, tallied 44 points from its reserves, including Rivers' 13. Thomas outscored Reinhardt (11-7) 58-28 in the paint and 29-9 on fastbreak opportunities. 

Ginnie, Rivers, Willie Holloway and Jalen Bonds each had a dunk.

Crews' squad shot 57.5 percent (42-of-73) overall and 50 percent (11-of-22) from 3-point range. 

Thomas took a commanding 63-38 lead into halftime on the strength of 66.7 percent (26-of-39) shooting from the field and a 63.6 percent (7-of-11) effort from beyond the arc in the period. The Night Hawks' largest advantage of the night, 31 points (61-30), came with 2:22 to play in the first half following a Forrest Freeland layup.

The Eagles were never closer than 13 points after intermission.

ABOUT COASTAL GEORGIA

The Mariners are coming off a 90-70 overtime loss at Middle Georgia State on Tuesday in non-conference action. The loss snapped a four-game win streak. 

Coastal Georgia trailed by as many as six in the first half before coming back to force a tie at 27. Vidmantas Kaciuska hit a jumper to force the game's first tie at 5:16. The Mariners and Middle Georgia State traded points until Roshaun Milline's jumper with 31 seconds left in the half gave the Knights a 35-33 lead.

The Mariners went up by six twice midway through the second half, including at 10:10 when Elijah Wade's jumper made it 53-47. Middle Georgia State responded with a 17-4 run – 15 of which came from Brandon Sharper – to gain a late 64-57 advantage with 4:53 left in regulation. Coastal Georgia fought back with Haylen Washington's jumper knotting the game at 64-all at 3:19. Kinsey Burgess' jumper at 57 seconds put Middle Georgia State up by two, but Kaciuska's jumper with 43 seconds tied the game at 70 and ultimately forced overtime.

In overtime, Coastal Georgia went scoreless while Middle Georgia State knocked down 75 percent of its shots (6-for-8) and tallied 20 unanswered points.

Washington, who was named NAIA Division II Player of the Week on Tuesday, recorded a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double to pace the Mariners. Wade and Brandon Martin each had 12 points.

Coastal Georgia shot 35.4 percent (28-for-79) for the game.

Middle Georgia State held a 56-43 advantage in rebounds.

The Mariners have played back-to-back overtime affairs.

Coastal Georgia is 5-2 at home.

The Mariners have two wins over then-Top 25 teams in their last three outings. 

This season is the first for Coastal Georgia in The Sun Conference.

Coastal Georgia ranks 28th in NAIA Division II in field goal percentage defense (0.427).

Washington is second in the league and 13th nationally in points per game (21.3). Martin is 36th in 3-pointers made (46).

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE MARINERS

Thomas lost at Coastal Georgia, 74-65, on Nov. 7, 2015, the first loss for Crews as a head coach.

The Night Hawks surged out to a seven point lead in the first nine minutes of the contest. Thomas continued to convert offensively, shooting 48 percent from the field in the opening half and 9-of-11 from the charity stripe, but Coastal Georgia chipped away and eventually tied the score at 37 at halftime.
 
Midway through the second half, both squads continued to trade temporary one-point leads. With 10:11 left in the game, the Mariners' tide turned as they scored five-straight points, culminating with a midrange jumper by Derrick Frye. With just under a minute left, Coastal Georgia would increased its advantage to 12.  

Coastal Georgia's Dominic Early led all scorers with 30.

Cooks led the his team with 20 points, while Andrea Robinson narrowly missed a double-double, netting nine points and 11 boards.

  • Cooks' 15 3-point attempts on Nov. 11 against Talladega (Ala.), a NAIA Division I member, are the most by any Sun Conference player in a game this season.
  • Thomas faces three ranked opponents - No. 14 Saint Thomas (Fla.), No. 15 Southeastern (Fla.) and No. 25 Keiser (Fla.) - and two that are receiving votes - Warner (Fla.) and Coastal Georgia - in the latest NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25. The Night Hawks defeated the Royals on Dec. 9 and won at the Fire on Jan. 4 but lost at the Seahawks on Nov. 16 and to the Bobcats on Dec. 2.
  • Thomas' Marcus Louis, Adrian Sims, Shaquille Holley and Cedric Wright are sitting out this season. Louis and Sims will each have four seasons of eligibility remaining, while Holley and Wright will each have two.
