THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Work continues to move forward on the renovation of Armory Field, Thomas' home softball venue.
The bullpen down the first base line, along with perimeter fencing, and three concrete slabs behind home plate for bleachers have been completed, while the paved walkways to seating and the dugouts are beginning to take shape.
The bullpen measures just under 1,200 square feet and includes three pitching rubbers. Along the first base line, 400 square feet of brown clay and 800 square feet of dirt have been laid, while 400 square feet of TFD Nylon 36 UN from Turf Factory Direct has been installed on the opposite end. The verde colored synthetic turf is 20 ounce urethane backing made out of nylon.
The 160 feet of silver, chain-length fencing around the bullpen measures six feet high.
Approximately 52 cubic yards of concrete has been poured.
The bleachers are expected to arrive and be erected Wednesday morning. The erection of two foul poles and painting of each of three dugout benches Pantone 349 green, are expected to be completed before the end of the calendar year.
The renovation to Armory Field began May 15. Work is expected to be completed on Armory Field's enhancements prior to first pitch of the alumni game on Jan. 20, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Thomas used Remington Park for fall practices, which concluded in early November.
