THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Work continues to move forward on the renovation of Armory Field, Thomas' home softball venue.

Both bullpens, benches for each dugout and bases have been the primary areas of focus during the last two weeks.

Each bullpen measures just under 1,200 square feet and includes three pitching rubbers. Along the third base line, 400 square feet of brown clay has been laid around each rubber, while 400 square feet of TFD Nylon 36 UN from Turf Factory Direct has been installed on the opposite end. The verde colored synthetic turf is 20 ounce urethane backing made out of nylon.

Three benches constructed out of pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine from Sunbelt Forest Products in Bartow, Fla., reside in each dugout. Each bench is 12 feet long and 2.5 feet tall with a base measuring 14 inches in width and flat top measuring 12 inches in width.

Four new bases and a pitching rubber from R & S Sports in Albany, Ga., have been installed in the Armory Field infield.

The addition of 400 square feet of brown clay around the pitching rubbers in the bullpen along the first base line, along with installation of 800 square feet of dirt in each bullpen, is expected to commence in the next seven days. Construction of infield seating and paved pathways in the concourse area, along with the erection of two foul poles and painting of each bench Pantone 349 green, is expected to begin within the next 14 days.

The renovation to Armory Field began May 15. Work is expected to be completed on Armory Field's enhancements prior to first pitch of the alumni game on Jan. 20, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Thomas used Remington Park for fall practices, which concluded last week.

TUNightHawks.com will update fans on the renovation of the complex approximately every three weeks throughout the calendar year.
