THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Thomas steps out of conference Tuesday when the Night Hawks host Voorhees (S.C.). Tip-off inside TU Gymnasium is set for 6 p.m. ET.

ABOUT THOMAS

The Night Hawks are coming off an 83-64 win at Johnson & Wales (Fla.) on Nov. 18 in conference action.

Kriza Allen and Dymon Brown each scored 20 points in the win.

Allen finished 9-of-12 from the floor to go along with three steals. Brown shot 8-of-13 overall, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Samantha Gilbert pumped in a career-high 12 points. Daycia Bandy contributed nine points and was perfect (3-of-3) from the floor. Jewel Montisano had eight points. Allen, Bandy and De'Audra Copeland each grabbed six rebounds. Allen, Montisano and Copeland each dished out three assists, as Thomas totaled 16 on 31 made baskets.

The Night Hawks shot 56.4 percent (31-of-55) overall and 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from beyond the arc. 

Johnson & Wales led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter, but the Night Hawks used an 8-0 run late in the second quarter to take a 28-20 edge following an Allen steal that turned into a Brown fastbreak layup. Gilbert canned a trey as time expired in the half to give her team a 34-24 edge at intermission.

In the first 20 minutes, Thomas shot 50 percent from the field (14-of-28) and from beyond the arc (4-of-8) while limiting the Wildcats to just 24.2 percent (8-of-33) shooting and 6.7 percent (1-of-15) from 3.

Allen increased the edge to 12 1:18 into the third quarter on a layup. Johnson & Wales countered and cut its deficit to one possession, 45-42, following three Bevin Mays free throws at the 2:32 mark, but the Green and White upped its advantage back to seven, 54-47, after two Bandy free throws to close the frame.

Thomas poured it on in the final 10 minutes, outscoring the Wildcats 29-17. Montisano made four-straight free throws with 7:13 to go following two technical fouls on the Wildcats, and the Night Hawks led by double digits the rest of the way.

Thomas outrebounded Johnson & Wales, 41-35, and limited the Wildcats to just 31.3 percent (20-of-64) shooting and 9.1 percent (2-of-22) from 3-point land. 

ABOUT VOORHEES

The Tigers are coming off a 53-42 loss at home to Cumberlands (Ky.) on Nov. 17.

Nijah Davis leads the team in scoring (12.4 ppg) and rebounding (7.7 rpg).

Voorhees ranks second in NAIA Division II in blocks (41), 35th in 3-pointers made (54), 36th in assists (105), 42nd in rebounding offense (287) and 48th in steals (68). 

Davis ranks fourth in NAIA Division II in blocks per game (2.6), 26th in 3-pointers made (19), 38th in rebounds (54) and 40th in defensive rebounds per game (5.6). Ladazha Cole is 20th in 3-pointers made (21).

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE TIGERS

Thomas defeated Voorhees, 79-73, on Nov. 26, 2013, inside TU Gymnasium.

Thomas opened up a 30-12 lead in the first half, riding the hot shooting of Taylor Britt and Angel Roberts, who had 14 and eight points, respectively, during the run. Voorhees stormed back with a 19-4 run to close the first half, cutting the Night Hawks lead to 34-31 at the break. 

Voorhees tied the game at 34 with a 3-point basket to open the second half, but Miracle Watts responded with a trey of her own to give Thomas the lead right back. The teams exchanged baskets throughout the early going of the second half before Voorhees opened up a a 63-57 lead with 6:05 to go on a transition layup after a Thomas turnover. Watts made it a 3-point game with a bucket from deep at the 5:45 mark and hit her second in a row 35 seconds later to tie the game at 63. With 4:50 to pla,y a putback by Roberts gave Thomas its first lead since the 12:45 mark. A steal and layup by Watts later increased her team's advantage to eight with 2:45 to play.

Watts finished with a team-high 28 points, while Brit dropped 23.

  • Thomas' inaugural game came at Voorhees on Oct. 30, 2013. The Tigers won, 76-70.
  • Thomas leads NAIA Division II in 3-point field goal percentage defense (0.200) and ranks 10th in steals per game (15.0), 13th in offensive rebounds per game (16.3), 39th in turnover margin (2.3), 4th in rebounds per game (41.0) and 46th in scoring defense per game (64.3).
  • Copeland ranks ninth in NAIA Division II in offensive rebounds per game (4.3). Allen is 16th in steals per game (3.3), 22nd in offensive rebounds per game (3.7) and 45th in field goal percentage (0.512). Brown ranks 49th in steals per game (2.7).
