ABOUT THOMAS
The Night Hawks are coming off a 3-1 loss to No. 17 Saint Thomas (Fla.) on Sept. 30 at TU Soccer Complex in league play. Thomas suffered its first home loss to the Bobcats in five games and first defeat in the last four matches overall.Â
A goal in the 21st minute gave the visitors a 1-0 lead, ending the Green and White's shutout streak of 335:26. Another Saint Thomas score in the 41st minute made the difference two goals.
A Billy Jeffery penalty kick beat Bobcat netminder Robert Barton in the 56th minute to cut the Thomas deficit in half. The goal was Jeffery's second in the last two matches in the series.
The Night Hawks, playing with a man advantage for the final 9:21 following Artur Sharapov's second yellow card, tried to find the equalizer late, totaling four corner kicks and three shots down the stretch, but a Bobcat shorthanded goal in the 88th minute proved to be the final tally.
Jeffery ended with two shots on goal. Leo Thompson recorded a game-high five shots.
Goalkeeper Ben Barnes had one stop in 90 minutes for the home team.
The Night Hawks outshot the visitors, 12-9, and held an edge in corner kicks, 7-3.

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE SEAHAWKS
No. 15-ranked and No. 1-seed Thomas was upset by No. 4-seed Keiser in The Sun Conference Tournament semifinals on Nov. 8, 2016, at TU Soccer Complex. Despite counting as a tie for both teams, the Seahawks advanced to the championship game after winning the penalty kick portion, 5-4, after the game remained deadlocked at three following two overtimes.
Juan Figueroa posted a hat trick for the Night Hawks.
Figueroa netted the first goal less than six minutes into the game off a pass from Jarrod Ingram.
Aaron Molloy tied the game with a header in the 31st minute off a cross from Alex Babiolakis.
Reece Welson put Keiser up 2-1 in the 69th minute with a penalty kick. Figueroa tied the game 30 seconds later and completed his hat trick in the 73rd minute.
However, Alessandra Giammatte tied the game with just nine seconds left in regulation on a free kick.
