VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Night Hawks'
Genevieve Courtney fired a team-best seven-over 79 on the final day of the fourth annual TU Fall Invitational held at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. Tuesday presented a par-72, 5,997-yard course.
Starting Tuesday on hole 16 with teammate
Laura Alexander, Courtney placed 25th in the tournament after carding a 162 (83-79) which included a birdie on hole 12 and level of holes one, six, eight, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18.
"I really pulled the round together on the back (nine)...on the back, I was even, so I really gutted it out and finished strong," Courtney said. "I was really focusing more on my irons today...just making sure my alignment was good...it definitely helped and took a couple more seconds on each shot, but it worked for the better."
Alexander, who tied for 28th, finished with a 36-hole score of 165 (83-82), including two birdies Tuesday on holes 11 and 18 and even par of holes two, three, five, eight, 13 and 16.
Thomas improved by 17 strokes from rounds one to two and finished in 10th place after carding a 725 (371-354).
The Night Hawks'
Dylaney Day, who began the second round on hole 17, carded a two-day total of 196 (100-96) which included level on holes eight, 11, 14 and 18 on Tuesday.
Juliann Padgett, who began Tuesday on hole 18 and shot even par on holes four, eight, 10 and 12, ended with a total of 202 (105-97).
No. 4 Cumberlands (Ky.) won the tournament with a 597 (294-303), edging out No. 2 Dalton State (Ga.) by two strokes. The Patriots' Kaitlyn Riley finished atop the leaderboard after carding a four-under 140 (68-72).
