THE NIGHT HAWKS
Thomas University opens the 2016 season against the Columbia College (S.C.) Koalas. The Night Hawks come off a successful 2015 season that saw the team string together 11 wins and advanced to The Sun Conference Tournament finals.
 
TU graduated its top two leading goal scorers from a season ago but return junior midfielder Linnea Roivas who netted six goals and dished two assists.
 
THE KOALAS
Columbia College also opens the 2016 season on Saturday. The Koalas ended last season with a 13-5 record and fell to Truett-McConnell, 1-0, in the postseason.
 
Columbia had three players score double-digit goals last season, led by Ashley Tanner's 18 goals, 16 assists and 52 points. Amber Tanner also returns to the Koalas and scored 11 goals with five assists for 27 points last season.
 
LAST TIME
The two teams met in Columbia, S.C. on Sept. 11 last season. The Koalas came away with a 1-0 victory on a goal from Ruby Hallam, assisted by Caitlin McDonald, in the seventh minute.
 
UP NEXT
The Night Hawks end a two-game home stand to start the season by hosting Middle Georgia State University. The Knights come into the TU Soccer Complex on Aug. 28 at 4 pm.
