THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball will conclude their 2016 season, hosting St. Thomas University this weekend in a Sun Conference three-game series.
Thomas (19-28, 6-15 TSC) took two games from their series with Florida Memorial in Miami Gardens, Fla. last time out. Sophomore
Jalbert Melo leads TU with a .363 batting average and 45 runs batted in. Junior pitcher
Jordan Martin (3-6) leads the team in strikeouts with 70.
St. Thomas (31-17, 14-7 TSC) will look to build on their sweep of Keiser last week in West Palm Beach, Fla. and finish as the Sun Conference regular season runner-up. Junior Jose Gomez leads the Bobcats in batting average with .395 and stolen bases with 17. Senior Cesar Ramirez's 56 runs batted in is ranked 26th in NAIA. Senior pitcher Alex Viera (6-0) leads the pitching rotation with a 3.18 earned run average.
First pitch at Varnedoe Stadium is set for 2 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday.
