THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Thomas University baseball team will be back at Varnedoe Stadium on Tuesday, when they host #19 Middle Georgia State University.
The Night Hawks (14-21, 1-11 TSC) will need to rebound quickly, needing to put a weekend sweep at the hands of by Webber International University in the rear view mirror. Senior
Matthew Brady leads the team in batting average (.363) while fellow senior
Jalbert Melo is leading the way in runs batted in (33) and stolen bases (5).
Middle Georgia (26-10) has won 6 of their last 8 and is coming off of a series victory over , conference rival, #4 Auburn University-Montgomery. The Knights rank fourth in the NAIA in total runs scored (309) and are fifth in stolen bases (86). MGSU is led by junior shortstop Jesus Monserrat, hitting a team best .409. His 48 runs scored tops the NAIA while his 52 hits is tenth best in the country. Junior outfielder Logan Smith is second in the NAIA in stolen bases (34).
TU and MGSU met earlier in the season in a season opening, three-game series in Cochran, Ga. Middle Georgia won the first and third games 12-2 and 10-0, respectively, while Thomas took game two 11-6.
First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
