Box Score Thomas University (13-19) lost the series opener to Webber International 9-3 in Babson Park, FL on Friday night. The loss drops the Night Hawks to 1-9 in TSC play in 2016.
TU took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning as
Reed Melcolm doubled home
Jeremy Crosby, and
Yovanny Peguero followed with another double to give the vistors the lead.
WIU would answer with two out in the bottom of the fifth, using a hit batter, a single, and a 3-run homer to take the lead 3-2. The Warriors would add to the lead in the 7th, with a two out, 2 RBI single to chase TU starter
Jordan Martin from the game trailing 5-2.
The Night Hawks would draw closer in the top of the eighth as
Jalbert Melo doubled to lead off the inning, and later scored on a grounder by
Jeremy Crosby. WIU would add 4 runs, three unearned, in the bottomof the inning to provide the final margin.Martin would take the loss, while Melo added 2 hits and Crosby, Melcolm, and Peguero added 1 RBI each.
The two teams will square off again on Saturday, with the doubleheader beginning at 12pm.
