Box Score The Warner Royals used 15 runs in the last 4 innings of the series finale on Saturday to beat the Night Hawks 16-3. The loss drops TU to 1-8 in the The Sun Conference, and 6-12 overall as Warner sweeps the series.
In what started as a pitchers duel, WU led off the first with 3 straight hits, but a pickoff at second and a double play would keep them off the board. TU took a 2-0 lead in the 4th as
Tanner Long singled, followed by a
Gant Highsmith double to score the first run.
Gavin Murphy would sacrifice Highsmith to third, and Highsmith scored on the errant throw, sending Murphy to second.. A baserunning gaffe would end the inning for the Night Hawks with the 2-0 lead.
Warner would lead off the 5th with a homerun, but Thomas would answer with a run of their own.
Blake Summers would lead off with a walk and be sacrificed to second by
Dillon True. After advancing to third on a fly to center, Summers would score ona 2-out single from
Jalbert Melo for the 3-1 Lead.
In the sixth, Warner used 4 hits to score 2 runs to tie the game at 3. With 2 out in the 7th, the Royals would score 5 runs to take the lead, and they would add 8 more in the final two innings for the final margin.
Starter
Jordan Martin (6.2 IP, 12 H, 8 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) would take the loss.
Tanner Long would grab 3 hits, all singles, and score a run.
The NIght Hawks take a break from TSC play as they travel to Columbus, GA on Friday and Saturday to take on Robert Morris. The doubleheader on Friday begins at 3pm at Golden Park.
