THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Thomas University baseball team will begin the week with a non-conference double header against Brewton-Parker College on Tuesday afternoon, followed by another Sun Conference weekend series against Warner University on Friday and Saturday.
The Night Hawks (4-9, 1-5 TSC) will enter the week looking to build on their last victory, against Southern University, that snapped a five game losing streak. Senior catcher
JR Cruess leads the team in batting average (.450), junior infielder
Tanner Elsbernd is the team leader in runs batted in (11) and junior outfielder
Austin Simmons leads TU in stolen bases with three. Redshirt senior pitcher
Neal Hunter (2-2) now leads the team in strikeouts (19) and earned run average (3.70).
Brewton-Parker (3-9) has been a struggling club this season. BPC's outfield is ranked 18th in the NAIA in errors per game (2.42). A game against the Barons is usually decided in the first four innings, when Brewton-Parker has given up 73 of their 122 total allowed runs. Junior Grayson Yeomens leads the team in batting averages (.333) and stolen bases with four. Junior Royson Grinaker (0-3) leads the team in earned run average (11.50) and strikeouts with six.
Warner (9-4, 2-1 TSC) comes off of its Sun Conference opening series, in which they took two of three from Florida Memorial University. WU ranks fourth in NAIA in total triples with four and 11th in NAIA in total doubles (30). Senior outfielder Randy Rodriguez's batting average (.465) leads the team while junior outfielder Broderick Rodocker leads the Royals in runs batted in (15). Senior pitcher Cole Roark leads the team in wins (3), strikeouts (27) and earned run average (0.43).
