Jason Hendrix | Sports Information Director | @JasonHendrixSID

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's and men's basketball programs welcome Florida Memorial University to Thomasville tomorrow night in their first Sun Conference contests of 2016.

The Lady Night Hawks are looking to continue their winning streak in the Sun Conference after starting league play in December with a 68-56 victory over Ave Maria.  This past weekend, TU started their 2016 portion of the season with a dominating 78-64 win over Allen University.  In the contest, senior Bria Joyner-Williams led the Lady Night Hawks as a rebounding machine and offensive force recording 22 points and eight rebounds in the win.  Her shining moment came at the charity stripe where she converted 12 of her 14 free throw attempts.

Sophomore Tess Wright has stepped up in key situations for Thomas as a three-point threat.  She is averaging 3.65 makes a game from behind the arch for Thomas in her 26.5 minutes a game.  Senior transfer Bra'shey Ali has been one of the most dominating players in NAIA Division II this season.  She leads the Lady Night Hawks in points, points per game, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.  The potential Sun Conference Player of the Week candidate leads in rebounds and blocks in the TSC and is third in scoring, fifth in steals, and sixth in assists.  As a unit, Thomas leads the NAIA DII in total rebounds per game (51.455) and total rebound margin (18.545).

The Lady Lions are off to a struggling 2-10 start losing both of their Sun Conference games this season against Webber International and St. Thomas.  Their opponents have outscored FMU 801-751 as the Lady Lions are averaging 62.6 ppg.  While the wins have not come in favor of FMU, their team has put together an impressive offensive showing where three of their five starters average double figures.  Ashley Henry, a sophomore transfer from Eastern Michigan University, has been a scoring and rebounding machine for FMU averaging 11.9 points and 9.1 boards a contest.  Teammate Diamond Colebrook has also given opponents trouble averaging 11.1 points and 3.7 rebounds a game.

The Night Hawks (6-8, 0-1 TSC) are fresh off an 86-75 victory over Allen University this past Saturday at the TU Gymnasium.  Behind the single-game career high 28 points and eight three-pointers of TU Student-Athlete of the Week Javoris Cooks, the Thomas University men's basketball team snapped a six-game losing skid over the last three weeks.  The Cordele, Ga., native went 5-for-5 from behind the arch to open the half, adding on to his two previous makes to end the first half.  Thomas has three Night Hawks averaging double figures, Cooks (14.9), Adonai Rogers (13.4), and Mike Lyons (11.1).  Senior Andrea Robinson has been a rebounding machine for the Night Hawks bringing down a season total 109.  Lyons leads Thomas with 4.23 assists per game while also making 1.39 steals a game.

Florida Memorial is entering the contest with a similar record to the Night Hawks having reached a 6-7, 1-1 TSC, mark through 13 games.  The Lions' key victories have come against Edward Waters, Trinity Baptist, Webber International, and NCAA Division II foe Lynn University.  FMU has four players averaging double figures with the dynamic duo of Aluk Adub and Sean Daniel, Jr. leading the way with 17.6 and 17 points per game, respectively.  Opponents have outscored the Lions 937-919 on the season where Florida Memorial has averaged 70.7 points a game as a unit.

Tipoff for the women's game is slated for 5:30 p.m., while the men's contest will start at 7:30 p.m.
