WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Thomas University basketball teams were in action this afternoon as they traveled to Northwood University to finish out their regular season schedule against the Seahawks.  The Lady Night Hawks upset Northwood on their Senior Night 64-60 while the men fell to the Seahawks 83-66.

In the women's contest, Thomas opened the game with 4-0 lead before the Lady Seahawks corralled the Lady Night Hawks to knot the game at 6-6 in the first five minutes of action.  Both teams consistently traded the lead until the final nine minutes of the half when TU began to build its growing lead.  Thomas would pull away by five points, 25-20, at its height heading into the final minute until the Lady Seahawks cut the lead to three.  The Lady Night Hawks headed into the half with the 25-22 lead.

After the break, the Lady Night Hawks would open a seven point, 29-22, lead before Northwood responded with a 6-0 run to take the 37-36 with just under 14 minutes remaining in the contest.  Once again, both squads continually traded shares of the lead until Thomas pushed a four point, 60-56, lead in the final two minutes of regulation.  The Lady Night Hawk defense held tough down the stretch preventing a NU comeback leading to their 64-60 victory.

Senior Courtney Saunds led Thomas with 24 points and four rebounds.  Jessica Anderson was the only other Lady Night Hawk in double figures.  The Jonesboro, Ga., native contributed 10 points and six assists in the winning effort.

Head coach Coretta Brown reflected on the win, "Great road victory to finish off the regular season. I really like the momentum we have heading into the conference tournament."

On the men's side of the competition, Northwood simply dominated the first half of play.  From the tip, the Seahawks amassed a 10 point, 14-4, lead in the first four minutes of play.  The Night Hawks responded with an 11-5 run to cut the Seahawks' lead to four, 19-15, midway through the half.  This drive was short lived as NU's offense went on a shooting tear netting their next seven shots to reestablish its lead at a first half height of 17, 38-21, with four minutes remaining until the break.  The Night Hawks managed to cut NU's lead to 12 to head in the half down 40-28.

Coming out the half, the Night Hawks powered through early adversity to bring NU's lead to six, 49-43, within the first six and half minutes of play.  While their effort was valiant, the Seahawks overcame the push to reclaim a contest high 81-61 lead with 1:25 left to play.

The Seahawks captured the 83-66 victory at the buzzer over the visiting Night Hawks.

Senior Alan Love picked up his fifth double-double of the season scoring 21 points while bringing down 14 rebounds.  Two other Night Hawks were in double figures for the game.  Rodney Sturkie netted 14 points and collected six rebounds while teammate Adonai Rogers contributed 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals in the losing effort.

"The basketball just didn't fall in the hoop for us today," stated head coach Stephen Cox.  "We had a lot of shots at the baskets too.  I saw spurts of good things.  While foul trouble hurt us tonight, we had chances to overcome the mistakes.  When you play good teams on the road, you have to be able to execute well. A new season starts next week with the conference tournament."

The Lady Night Hawks improved to 11-16, 8-10 TSC, while the men's team dropped to 19-9, 10-8 TSC, on the year.

Both teams now await seeding for the Sun Conference tournament that will begin next week.  Stay tuned for game dates, locations, and starting times.
