THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Fresh off of a 73-58 win versus Brewton-Parker to earn a split of the season series, the Thomas University women's basketball team will look to win a third consecutive game on Dec. 2 versus Middle Georgia State. The game, which is a rematch of TU's 61-60 win on Nov. 4, will be the first of a three-game home stand for head coach
Coretta Brown and company.
Thomas is still paced in scoring by
Bra'shey Ali with just under 15 points per game, and four different players are averaging double figures.
The Lady Night Hawks are currently on a two-game winning streak after losing three consecutive. On Nov. 28 versus Trinity Baptist, TU hung 103 points on the board.
During that game, Ali recorded the first triple-double in Lady Night Hawks' history, as she scored 19 points, grabbed 22 boards and dished out 11 assists.
The upcoming contest with Middle Georgia figures to be a tough test for TU, however. Last season, despite posting a record under .500, Middle Georgia State was one of the most competitive teams in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Lady Knights went 0-4 versus Top 25 teams, but the average margin of defeat for MGSU in those games was just 11 points per game.
Additionally, the Lady Knights returned one of the most talented duos in the SSAC in Shaquita and Shaketa Hodges. Often the two most talented players on the floor, the Hodges combined for a whopping 42 points in a defeat versus Auburn-Montgomery last season.
MGSU will be shorthanded in the upcoming contest with TU, however, as Shaketa Hodges suffered a season-ending injury against Miles College on Nov. 11. The Lady Knights have gone 0-4 since her injury.
Tipoff versus Middle Georgia State is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
