Thomas Baseball (26-16, 17-7) brought their brooms with them on Saturday afternoon, sweeping a Sun Conference double header and three game series from the Warner University Royals (18-26-2, 8-16) at Varnedoe Stadium.

Senior starting pitcher Kurtis Gens (4-3) picked up his fourth win of the year in a 7-2 game one win. Gens went eight innings, allowing two runs (one earned) while scattering nine hits. For the second straight day, sophomore third baseman Tyler Palmer (2-3, 3 R, RBI, BB, HR) went deep when he gave TU a first inning lead with a solo shot to left field. Warner would tie the game in the top of the third but Thomas responded with two runs in the fourth and fifth, followed by single runs in the sixth and seventh to put the game away. Senior catcher Andrew Crane (1-2, 2 RBI) drove in two runs.

TU, once again, took the lead in game two scoring two in the bottom of the 2nd to go up 2-0. The Royals scored three in the third to take a 3-2 lead but Thomas came right back to with two in the bottom half of the inning, to retake the lead. A five run fifth inning proved to be the difference in the game as the Night Hawks went ahead 9-3, on the strength of Palmer's (2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB, HR) second home run of the day and his third of the series. Sophomore pitcher Evan Morgan (4-0) came out of the pen to pick up the win and senior closer John Gainey collected his third save of the season.

The Night Hawks will close out TSC play with a three game series against St. Thomas University next Friday and Saturday. A double header on Friday is scheduled to begin at 2p.m.
