NIght Hawks split with #24 Southeastern

Box Score Thomas University used a clutch 2-out single by Andrew Crane in the bottom of the 10th innning to secure a 5-4 walk-off victory over #24 Southeastern University in game one of a key Sun Conference series on Sunday, before falling 11-3 in the nightcap.

TU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd on a Jeremy Crosby homer, his second of the year. SEU would answer back in the 3rd and 4th to tie it, but Brandon Singer would make it 4-2 with his first homerun of the year. Kurtis Gens would give up another run in the 5th inning, before giving way to JOhn Gainey in the 8th. Gainey would surrender a single run in the 9th to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
In the 10th, Jake Desuyowould lead off with a walk, and Chris Kitlas would move him to second with a sacrifice bunt. The Fire would intentionally walk Trey Griffin and Josh Bruijn flew out to center before crane droppped the single to into left scoring Desuyo from second. Crane finished 3-5, witht hte game winning RBI. Gens finished with 7 IP, 2 ER, and 6 Ks. Gainey picked up his 5th win of the year.

In game two, pitching was the story, as the Night Hawks would walk 9 and hit 2 batters to help SEU to their big lead. TU held a 3-2 lead headed to the 5th on the strength of two Damon Jackson RBI doubles, but that is as far as they would get after SEU scored 7 runs over the next 3 innings. Ben Overman would take the loss, pitching 4.1 innings, giving up 6 runs on just 5 hits and 6 walks, while striking out 5.
TU and Southeastern will square off again on Monday for the series finale. First pitch is at 12pm.
