Box Score

Baseball (5-1, 3-0) cruised this afternoon to an 11-1 win over Florida Memorial University (1-5, 0-3) this afternoon in Miami Gardens, Fla., sweeping their opening Sun Conference series of the year.

TU once again used their red hot bats, pounding out 19 hits on the day and 51 in the three game series. The pitching continued to shut down the FMU bats as sophomore starting pitcher Evan Morgan (1-0) limited Florida Memorial to one run on four hits in five innings of work. The Night Hawk bullpen tossed four scoreless innings. TU has only allowed 14 runs over their first six games while the offense has produced 47 runs. Thomas, once again, jumped all over FMU in the first inning to score five runs on five hits. The Night Hawks scored 11 first inning runs in the three game set. Sophomore designated hitter Tyler Palmer (5-5, 3 R, 2B, 3B, BB, RBI, SB) had five more hits today and is batting .750. The win was the 400th career win for TU Baseball Coach Mike Lee.

Thomas will continue in TSC play this coming weekend, traveling to Babson Park, Fla. to face Webber International University in a three game set. The series opens up with a single game on Friday February 14, at 6 p.m., and wraps up with a double dip on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
