Back to back three pointers, by junior point guard
Miracle Watts and freshman guard
Shamari Josey, gave the Lady Night Hawks the jump start needed to end their three game slide. Northwood responded with five unanswered and tied the game at eight with 16:10 to play and took the lead minutes after with a three pointer. The Sea Hawks were deadly from behind the arc knocking down 6 of 9 (.667) as they opened up their lead. TU continued to fight hard in the half but were plagued by turnovers, handing the ball over to NU 14 times. Northwood shot .600 (18-30) from the field, closing out the first with a twenty four point advantage, their largest of the half.
Northwood opened the second as they ended the first, scoring two baskets in the opening 30 seconds to force an early TU time out. The Sea Hawks once again dominated play through the early going extending the lead to 27 at the 18:42 mark. Thomas did not give in and cut the NU lead to eleven with 10:50 to play in the half on a three pointer by Watts. Northwood would respond with consecutive baskets to make a 58-43 game and eventually took their lead to 23 points, 78-55, with less than three minutes to play. The Lady Night Hawks showed a relentless effort to play the full forty minutes and made things interesting down the stretch. Watts knocked down a three and junior forward Taylor Brit followed up with a bucket of her own. After a Northwood basket, Brit dropped another two inside and converted at the line for the three point play, after drawing the foul. With the deficit down to twelve, TU continued their run with eleven unanswered points to close out the game on an 18-4 run but it would be too little too late as the clock expired on the Thomas comeback.
Thomas left ten points off the board, unable to convert from the charity line, going 15-25 on the night. Watts led TU with 22 points, including four buckets from behind the arc. Junior guard
Jessica Anderson knocked down 2 from downtown and finished with fourteen points overall.
TU will look to end their four game slide on Saturday evening when they travel to Ave Maria, FL to face Ave Maria University.
