Box Score
The NAIA #1 Faulkner University Eagles (8-2) edged TU Baseball (7-5), 8-7, in the opener of a non-conference three game set on Friday evening at Varnedoe Stadium.
In a sloppy game, with the teams combining for nine errors, it was Faulkner that made more plays when it counted to hold on for the win. Thomas pitchers allowed 13 hits but it was four errors on the field, that led to two unearned runs for the Eagles, that ultimately made the difference. Senior relief pitcher
John Gainey (1-1) took the loss after tossing two hitless innings, allowing two earned runs while walking two. Junior center fielder
Brandon Singer (1-4, 4 RBI, 3B) drove in four runs for the Night Hawks. The start of the game was delayed by a half hour due to thunderstorms in the Thomasville area earlier in the day.
Thomas and Faulkner will conclude their three game set with a double header tomorrow afternoon beginning at 12PM.
