TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - Edward Sack's goal in the 23rd minute was the lone dagger for the Thomas University Night Hawks men's soccer program against the Florida College Falcons at Qualls Field on Saturday afternoon.

Will Nye struck the first Night Hawk shot of the contest after the sixth tick, but it was saved before finding the back of the net. Ryan Donnelly and Elia Casali also had shots turned away by the Falcon goalkeeper. Ethan Moore had an early shot as well, but it missed just above the crossbar. 

In the 22nd minute, the Falcons were offsides, allowing the Night Hawks to take over. Thomas paced the ball quickly up front to Charlie Foss, who played it down the line and found Sack. The Epping, England native fired across the goal to put Billy Jeffery's boys in front, 1-0.

Thomas only mustered one more shot by Moore before heading to the half with the lead.

The Falcons sent multiple early second-half shots towards the Night Hawks' net, but Damien Fortin (2-1-0) and the rest of the Thomas defenders turned them all away. The offense held favorable possession down the final thirty minutes, including multiple corner kicks and several attempts to double the lead with shots on goal by Sack and Moore. Ultimately, one proved to be enough as full time was reached with the score still pushing Thomas narrowly past Florida College.

The Night Hawks (2-1, 0-0 SSAC) open home their home slate of matches at the TU Soccer Complex against the Webber International University Warriors at 2 p.m. Monday, August 31. Thomas won the first 10 contests before dropping three and tying one of the last four against the Warriors.
