Night Hawks compete at Celebration Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Thomas University men's track and field team turned in multiple strong performances and set two school records Thursday at the Gainesville Indoor Classic.

In the field events, Ean Miller led the way with a 13th-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.89 meters (6 feet, 2.5 inches). Miller also placed ninth in the long jump with a mark of 6.52 meters (21-4.75) and competed in the 60 meters.

Jerry Speights delivered one of the highlights of the meet, placing ninth in the triple jump with a school-record leap of 14.05 meters (46-1.25). Speights also competed in the long jump and 60 meters. In the weight throw, Conner Munn set a new school record with a throw of 9.95 meters, while Jadon Parker added a mark of 8.08 meters.

On the track, Landon Watts recorded a pair of solid performances, finishing 26th in the mile run in 4:41.27 before posting a personal-best time of 2:03.21 in the 800 meters. Glenn Walker also achieved a new personal best in the 800, crossing the line in 2:20.53 after competing in the mile earlier in the day.

In the sprints, Jayson Evans led the team in the 60 meters with a time of 7.17, followed by Miller (7.53), Speights (7.58), Chris Stewart (7.76) and Aaron Wilson (7.86). Fabian Jeune finished the 800 meters in 2:20.94.

Nelson Lopez competed in multiple events but did not finish the mile or the 800.

The meet provided valuable experience in the indoor season as the team continues to build momentum heading into the Southern States Athletic Conference meet on February 20th.
