Thomas Splits Twin Bill for First Win of the Season

LAKE WALES, Fla. — Thomas dropped the opener but bounced back to earn its first win of the season Saturday, splitting a doubleheader against Warner on the second day of a three‑day road trip against SUN conference opponents.

Thomas 3, Warner 7 — Game 1

Warner pulled away with a decisive six‑run sixth inning to hand Thomas a 7–3 loss in the opener. The Night Hawks struck iin the fourth when Cloey O'Doniel reached on a single and eventually scored on an RBI single by Ashlyn Powell. In the sixth, Thomas added two more runs Powell drove in another run with a single, and Baleigh Herrera lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Riley Spinosa, taking the lead before Warner's offensive surge. 

Warner answered with a steady scoring sequence of its own. A double in the third followed by an error scored a runner to put the Royals on the board. Then Warner exploded in the sixth with six runs on a string of singles, a pinch‑hit RBI knock and a three‑RBI double putting the game out of reach.

Thomas 4, Warner 3 — Game 2

Thomas responded with its first victory of the season, manufacturing runs early and capitalizing late for a 4–3 win. In the first inning, Ava Nunez singled and moved up on a wild pitch, followed by Alexis Adams reaching on an error and adding in a stolen base. Both runners scored when Ashlyn Powell ripped a two‑run double to center, giving Thomas an early 2–0 lead. 

Thomas tied the game in the fifth when Grace Hodges singled, and scored on an Adams RBI single tying the game. In the sixth Powell reached on a error by third base and advanced to second on a ground out from Katelyn Shiver. Cameron Clontz drove in Powell with an RBI single to right field to put the Night Hawks ahead for good.

Warner's scoring came in the fourth, where a double, a stolen base and two singles scored a run. A groundout followed by a pair of singles plated two for a three run inning.

Thomas' pitching trio of  Clontz, Kinley Libby, and Natalie Hiles stranded 10 Warner runners and held the Royals scoreless over the final three innings.

The Night Hawks return to action Sunday for final doubleheader of their road trip against Webber International University first pitch is scheduled for 11 am.
