Night Hawks take down Falcons

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas Night Hawks returned home and followed up Monday's excellent performance with a 4-0 win over the Florida College Falcons.

The scoring got started early as Camilo Penafiel found Ethan Moore on an excellent cross for the goal to go up 1-0 in the ninth minute.

Penafiel got the ball again, taking it all the way to the edge of the boundary to find Daniel Mauldin who then fired the ball right into the net for a second goal in the 22nd minute.

The Night Hawks found a couple more scoring opportunities before the half as Edward Sack shot went high and Penafiel attempt got deflected wide as the clock struck zero.

Coming out after half, Thomas found themselves on the back foot as Florida College began to put some pressure on the Night Hawks early.

Goalkeeper Damien Fortin faced back-to-back shots that most of the time result in a goal, but Fortin put his body on the line to make the tough saves.

In the 75th minute, Luke Guerier intercepted a Falcons pass and quickly got it over to Owen Spier, who sent it ahead to a streaking Penafiel. One-on-one with the goalkeeper Penafiel framed it and hit pay dirt to bring the score to 3-0.

Then, a couple of minutes later, Spier capitalized on an errant pass by the Florida College defender, leaving him with a perfect shot to score for the Night Hawks.
In the waning minutes of the game, the Falcons tried two more corners trying to find an opportunity to score, However the Night Hawks held strong for the victory.

Fortin earns his first career clean sheet in the win to go along with four saves.

Thomas will face another difficult challenge on Thursday, September 11th as they take on the Keiser Seahawks at home.
