THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas Night Hawks continued their hot start to the season with a 1-1 draw to the No.17 Keiser Seahawks on Wednesday afternoon.
The Night Hawks quickly got on the board as a costly foul by the Seahawks gave Ethan Moore a penalty kick, which found the back of the net in the sixth minute.
Keiser was resilient as they found several scoring opportunities throughout the first half. However, Thomas goalkeeper Damien Fortin held the attack at bay, protecting a 1-0 lead going into the half.
The Seahawks kept the pressure on in the second half as the Night Hawks continued to play steadfast defense.
Unfortunately, Keiser finally broke through in the 75th minute as Francis Bolland landed a strike from Leon Sy Birgersson to equalize the game.
Bolland almost responded with a second goal a minute later, but Fortin stayed solid in between the sticks.
As the time ran down, both teams took last chance shots at breaking the tie, but they fell short as the game finished as a draw.
Keiser outshot Thomas 14 to 2 with 11 shots on target.
Fortin played solid with 10 saves while conceding only one goal.
The game was the final non-conference game for the Night Hawks, as they open conference play on the road against UT Southern on Thursday, September 18th at 7:30p.m.
