Night Hawks draw SSAC opener

PULASKI, Tenn. – The Thomas University Night Hawks faced a tough challenge to open SSAC play; going against (RV) UT Southern in the SSAC Game of the Week

The Night Hawks came out aggressive, finding a scoring opportunity in the 14th minute as Zach Abraham's header was saved by the keeper.

The Firehawks soon went on the attack with three shots of their own. However, none managed to find the back of the net.

As time ticked down in the first half, Thomas kept the pressure on as Luke Guerrier found Jaxson French in the box, French then made an excellent pass over to Owen Spier who connected with a strike to gain the lead in the 41st minute.

The Night Hawks carried a 1-0 lead into the half.

Coming out of the locker room, the Thomas defense continued to keep the UT Southern attack at bay as they desperately looked for the equalizer.

Unfortunately, the Firehawks manage to find the back of the net thanks to some brilliant passing to tie the game.

The 66th minute goal would be the final one scored as both teams played to a draw.

UT Southern outshot the Night Hawks 15-5. However, Thomas had more corners, and four of their five shots were on target.

Spier's goal is his third one of the season.

The Night Hawks continue their road trip on Saturday for a matchup with Blue Mountain at 2:30p.m.
