Night Hawks fall to #22 Southeastern

LAKELAND, Fla, - The Night Hawks took on a former SUN Conference foe in the Southeastern University Fire on Saturday afternoon.

In game one of the doubleheader matchup, the Fire quickly capitalized on a walk and fielder's choice to plate one run in the bottom of the first. Three innings later, the Fire produced two hits to supply them with their final two runs of the contest. Despite out-hitting the Fire 6-4, the Night Hawks failed to plate a single run and fell to the Fire in shutout fashion, 3-0.

Kristin Steller led the Night Hawks with three hits in game one, while Annalise Buncy followed closely behind with two hits of her own.

Similar to game one of the series, the Fire plated one run in the bottom of the second inning to strike first in the second contest. In the following inning, the Fire used five hits to plate two additional runs. Carrying this momentum into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Fire produced three hits to plate three insurance runs. A Buncy single followed by a Steller 2-RBI homerun provided the Night Hawks with two runs and a brief sign of life in their final opportunity at the dish. However, the Fire defense prevented any further Thomas comeback effort.

The Night Hawks search for redemption as they take on Webber International University on Sunday, February 9th at 12:00 PM.
