Night Hawks fall in the quarterfinals of SSAC tournament

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Thomas Night Hawks faced off against the Mobile Rams in the quarterfinals of the SSAC Basketball Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

The two teams went back-and-forth in the early stages as there were six lead changes and three ties before the nine-minute mark in the first half. Mobile took the lead on a three-point shot from Treylan Smith, the shot also sparked a quick 8-0 to put the Night Hawks behind, however Tyson Anderson responded with a quick shot to cut the lead to six. Following a Rams basket, Noah Lattin dropped in a layup and Anderson hit a midrange shot to bring the deficit to four. Zion Hunter knocked down another three, but Thomas refused to go away as Lattin answered back with a dunk and then Anderson got a steal and found Deonta Jones on the fastbreak for layup to go down by three. Mobile hit another three-pointer and the Night Hawks went into the locker room down six.

The second half saw the Night Hawks continuing to battle, knocking down shots and clawing out of the deficit, but Mobile continued to be efficient on offense holding Thomas at bay. Jailin Lee brought the lead down to three after a couple of shots at the charity stripe. But The Rams kept the offensive pressure going and held the lead to end of the game.
