NORTH MIAMI, Fla. — The Thomas Night Hawks secured a commanding victory over Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday evening.
The Night Hawks were led by standout performances from
Jamia Brown and
LaTarius Montgomery.
Brown paced the Night Hawks (record not provided) with 17 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc and grabbing eight rebounds. Montgomery controlled the paint, tallying a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 22 rebounds, while adding two assists.
Thomas set the tone early, outscoring Fort Lauderdale 16-9 in the first quarter. The Night Hawks extended their lead to 35-29 at halftime, fueled by efficient shooting and defensive pressure.
Aaliyah Ringold contributed 12 points and six assists, while
Destiny Hill filled the stat sheet with 12 points, six assists, four steals, and two blocks.
The Night Hawks' defense stifled Fort Lauderdale (record not provided) in the second half, holding them to just four points in the final quarter. Thomas forced 10 turnovers and dominated the boards, outrebounding the Eagles 49-30.
Maiya Petit led Fort Lauderdale with 16 points and five rebounds, while Brinyia Rolax anchored the defense with six blocks. However, the Eagles struggled offensively, shooting just 25.4 percent from the field.
The Night Hawks return home on Saturday, February 15th for an SSAC matchup with Faulkner.
