TIFTON, Ga. – Four Night Hawks scored in double digits as 27 bench points combined with 12 made threes for 40 percent accuracy carried Thomas (6-8, 2-3 SSAC) over the top into a 78-69 win over Abraham Baldwin (5-10, 0-4 SSAC) on Saturday afternoon at Gressette Gym.
Aaliyah Ringold started the game with a made jumper to spark a 8-0 Thomas run. From there each team traded blows back and forth. The Night Hawks jumped ahead with a double digit lead 42-31 that was never cut closer than nine.
Destiny Hill led all scorers with 16 points, eight rebounds, one assist and two steals. Kennedy Collins added 14 points, 14 rebounds, one assist and one block. Ringold chipped in 13 points of her own along with six rebound and a team high of four assists. Jamia Brown rounded off the scoring with 13 points and contributed four rebounds and a steal.
Head Coach Ron Foxx said "Today was a much needed win for us, and an even bigger conference win. It's always great to start the new year with a conference win. This is much needed because we have two major conference games coming up this week against Brewton Parker and Life so it's always good to go into those game with some momentum."
Graduate Assistant Coach Jordan Booker said "It was a tough fought game the whole 40 minutes. Both teams being able to take the punch from the other. I'm proud of our girls staying together and believing in each other the whole game.
This win today marked the most wins in a season in program history since the 2019-2020 season.
The Night Hawks return to action at home on January 7th at 5:30 p.m. to face Brewton-Parker in SSAC action.
