Night Hawks Drop Two Tp Firehawks

THOMASVILLE, GA  |  The Night Hawks took to the field at Armory Field, on Friday, for the first of two consecutive doubleheaders, this weekend, in the Rose City.  Due to previous rainouts, the Night Hawks are in the midst of playing three doubleheaders, in four days, all of which are conference games.  Friday's contest featured the Night Hawks versus the Firehawks of the University of Tennessee Southern.

Tennessee Southern 3, Thomas 1

Game one of the day did not see many runs crossing the plate, but had plenty of hits.  The two teams combined for 15 hits, but only four runs were able to score.  Unfortunately for Thomas, three of the runs belonged to the Firehawks.

The Thomas starter, Amber Griffin, was able to pitch out of three bases-loaded jams, in her five innings of pitching.  The Tennessee Southern starter had some spectacular definsive plays occur behind her.  Both teams were remained scoreless into the sixth inning.

In the 6th inning, Ansley Eason led off with a single.  Grace Hodges followed up with a single.  After Jaelynn Vialpando walked, to load the bases, Adreanna Killingsworth hit into a fielder choice, to score the lone Thomas run.

Tennessee Southern led off the top of the 7th with a double.  With two outs, a single to left field brought the lead off runner home.  The Firehawks would hit a two-run homer to center field, to send the lead to 3-1, and hold on for the victory.

Adreanna Killingsworth had the lone RBI for the Night Hawks in game one.

Tennessee Southern 4 Thomas 1

Thomas scored first in game two of the day.  Averie Sheppard led off the game with a single, up the middle.  Kristen Stellar laid down a  sacrifice bunt, to advance Sheppard to 2nd base.  Kennedy Hardy would collect the RBI when she grounded out to second base.  For the Night Hawks, that would conclude the scoring on the day.

Thomas would give up three runs, in the fourth inning, and an additional run, in the sixth inning, to the Firehawks, and fall victim to Tennesse Southern, 4-1.

The Night Hawks will be in action on Saturday, as they take on the Toppers from Blue Mountain, beginning at noon, at Armory field.  For up-to-date information on this game and other TU Athletics, visit http://www.TUNightHawks.com.
